Top experts in the field provide attendees with a hands-on opportunity to apply methods for processing and analyzing data from large-scale naturalistic databases. In this very interactive workshop (using a light-hearted competition format, “So You Think You Are a Naturalistic Guru”), attendees will develop research methods, learn techniques, and obtain comprehensive feedback on planned analyses of a particular question of interest.

Transportation research has lacked benchmark data sets upon which different methodological approaches can be tested and evaluated. The aim of this workshop is to shed some light on the differences and similarities between statistical and artificial intelligence approaches for analyzing transportation data sets. Case studies from different transportation research areas are used as examples.

First U.S. Department of Transportation Data Visualization Student Challenge

The Data Visualization Student Challenge is sponsored by the U.S. DOT Bureau of Transportation Statistics and the Transportation Research Board’s Committee on Visualization in Transportation.
